I am a multidisciplinary artist and musician whose creative life…
spans dance, vocal performance, visual art, and the healing arts. I have honed my skill set through many decades of performance and training. Although I have not had a formal visual arts class since high school, I have been working as a visual artist for many years. One of the most meaningful opportunities I’ve had to work holistically as an artist was co-starring and co-producing a show for the Fringe Festival, where I was involved in every aspect of building a full-scale production. That experience showed me how awesome and integrated my artistic experience can be! It was like having a baby! As I move forward, I’m excited to explore artistic endeavors within a more supportive container of higher education, where I can refine my skills and continue to grow.
While my creative life has been rich, it has also been largely self-directed and shaped by instinct. I want to expand my range across all mediums—especially in the visual arts. I hope to deepen my understanding of core visual-art techniques such as foreshortening, perspective, proportion, shading, and line discipline, so that my imagery can carry the precision and dimensional richness I envision. One of my dreams is to bring my practices together more intentionally, to create interactive, immersive works that invite audiences to participate in the artistic experience rather than simply witness it.
I really love being in the academic environment! Looking toward the next decade, I envision my artistic path evolving into roles of leadership and mentorship—potentially as a professor, a department chair, or even a dean—where I can help cultivate supportive, imaginative learning environments for the next generation of artists.
